Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is a prosthetic tooth that is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It is held in position by the adjacent teeth, thereby giving the bridge a stable foundation.

What Are the Types of Dental Bridges?

There are two different types of dental bridges:

Fixed Dental Bridge

A fixed dental bridge is a permanent solution to replace missing teeth. It consists of a crown attached to an arch. The crowns are permanently cemented to the adjacent teeth on either side of the missing tooth, and a false tooth is placed in between them.

Removable Dental Bridge

A removable dental bridge is not as strong as a fixed dental bridge and cannot be considered as a permanent solution. It consists of two crowns attached to the arch with false teeth placed in between them. The crowns are bonded to the adjacent teeth, while the false teeth are held in place with metal springs.

What Are the Benefits of Dental Bridges?

The benefits of dental bridges include the following:

– Bridges help restore your smile, confidence, and self-esteem.

– They improve your ability to eat and speak normally.

– Bridges last longer and provide long-lasting benefits to the patient.

– They restore the shape, color, and structure of the face.

How Are Dental Bridges Placed?

The first step involves preparing your teeth for the placement of dental bridges. If you have only one missing tooth, then it can be restored with an implant or a dental crown. To place an implant, an incision is made in the gums, and an artificial titanium post is placed inside your jawbone. If you have multiple missing teeth, then they will be extracted before starting the procedure for placing dental bridges.

Once your gums have healed from the extraction, we will take an impression of your mouth and send it to a dental lab where the bridge will be fabricated according to your unique dental measurements. While you wait for your new bridge, we will protect your teeth with a temporary dental bridge until your final bridge is ready for placement. Upon receiving your final bridge from the lab, we will place it in position and check for proper fit and comfort before cementing it securely in place.
